In Times of Chocolate Desperation

This is my solution

All measurements are approximate ( I don't use measuring cups/spoons)

In the blender:

1/4 c cashews (you could do almonds too, but need more liquid bc they thicken up fast)*
3-4 Tbs cacao powder (not cocoa)
1-2 dates (remove the pit!)
1-2 tsp maple syrup or agave
1 tsp or so chia seed (to make it thick & creamy)
splash of pure vanilla

either: 1/4 c coconut milk powder + 1 C boiling water
or: 1/2 can of coconut milk heated up.  (the canned creamy stuff) (not boiled! coconut milk does not like to be boiled)

In warmer weather, make a frappe!  Use ice cubes in place of the boiling water and do not heat up the coconut milk

Blend it up.
you're welcome ;)

*If you are not using a high speed blender you will need to soak the nuts first for 15-30 minutes.  You can use the water you've soaked them in if you like.
